It's a girl!

So at 19 1/2 weeks pregnant we found out at my high def ultrasound yesterday we are expecting a girl!  It took about 30-45 minutes into the ultrasound for the doctor to finally tell us the sex because she was not cooperating most of the time! It was very interesting to watch the Doctor take all the measurements of the baby and see about every part of the baby close up! The baby's heart rate was 138 and she weighs 11 ounces. Hopefully my OB will be able to review the results of this ultrasound with me at my appointment next Friday, but according to the ultrasound Doctor everything looked normal.

I'm starting to feel flutters here and there but not any major kicks yet.  As you can see from the picture, my belly is growing!  I'm starting to outgrow some of my scrub tops for work.  I've gotten a few maternity tops already, but I think I may need to buy a few more tops for work!

Now that we know we are having a girl, I'm excited to finally be able to shop!  I plan on starting a registry soon since we are expecting to have a shower March 31st.  My Mom will be here visiting that weekend so that will make the shower so much more special!

17 weeks and monthly appointment

17 Weeks!

411391915ED840709F0ED1130ECCCFCD.ashx.jpgBaby's now the size of an onion!
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. His umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Even though I had to work it was still a nice day.  I got a few baby items: 2 gift cards from my mom and sister to the maternity store where I can buy clothes, some diapers, and some mustella lotion for stretch marks.

I had my monthly doctor's appointment yesterday.  It was a pretty quick appointment, because the doctor didn't do an ultrasound this time.  I got to listen to the heartbeat again with the doppler.  The heart rate was 150 this time, so our little one isn't making it easy to guess the gender according to the old wives tale!  All of my blood work was normal and I'm right on track with weight gain, I've gained 8 pounds total.  My next appointment is the high def ultrasound on Jan. 17th!

Garrett's hand surgery went great last Tuesday!  He is pretty miserable not being able to use his right hand for two weeks, but I just keep telling him it's worth getting rid of the pain.  He goes back on Jan 9th to get his stitches taken out.

I'm looking forward to 2012 since there are a lot of great things to come!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun New Year's Eve!  Happy New Year!

Four Months today!

Merry Christmas Eve! I am 16 weeks today!

The weeks seem like they are flying by so quickly!  I feel very lucky that pregnancy has been pretty easy for me so far since I haven't experienced morning sickness. Also, I am starting to feel less tired now that I'm in my second trimester.  I haven't felt any baby movements yet, only cramping which means my uterus is growing!

Next week both Garrett and I have to see the doctor!  On Tuesday December 27th Garrett is finally getting surgery done on his right hand for his carpel tunnel.  Now he will be able to hold our baby without complaining about his hand going numb!  I have my next doctor's appointment next Friday, December 30th for just a routine checkup.

We are counting down the days until January 17th!  That is the big date our gender high def ultrasound is scheduled for.  After that appointment I will finally start shopping for our baby registry!

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
